(Source) According to the Korea Consumer Agency, 65.2% of customers on delivery apps wrote reviews for incentives, with 98.3% giving higher ratings due to these events. A single warm review can save a struggling restaurant, and stories of kind owners can spark ‘돈쭐’ movements where customers boost sales to support them. Nowadays, campaigns for positive comments and award ceremonies for exemplary reviews are also emerging.

돈쭐을 내다 ‘Donjool(돈쭐)’ combines the Korean words for money(돈) and scolding(혼쭐). It means deliberately increasing sales at a socially impactful restaurant or store with a kind owner, so much that the owner is “scolded” for their success.
