By the end of this lesson, you’ll be able to:
- Interpretive Communication: Comprehend sequencing and reasons in a short description of one’s new year’s plans.
- Interpersonal Communication: Ask and answer questions about new year’s plans.
- Presentational communication: Present your new year’s resolution.
- Intercultural Communication: Talk about common new year’s resolutions in Korea.
Task 1. 새해
Watch the following video and answer the questions in Korean. Audio-record your answers.
1. “하하”는 새해에 뭐 하고 싶어해요?

Task 2. 인터뷰
Guidelines
A: You are being interviewed by a reporter who is writing an article about New Year’s resolutions. Answer the following questions from the reporter, talk about what your last year was like, and what you want to achieve in the new year. Include at least two resolutions for the new year in your answers. Take turns and audio-record the interview.
B: You are writing an article about popular New Year’s resolutions. Interview a person and ask the following questions to the interviewee. Add one question of your own. Don’t forget to use the following filler expressions to make the conversation flow: 아, 그래요? 그렇군요! (I see/indeed!), etc.
Language
Use -고 싶다, 기 전에, and connectives (어서, 고, and 지만).
